You might find the shift key in combination with the left mouse button
useful in group selection/deselection operations. Then use the m key
for move.

Just tried it out here. It seems that using the middle mouse button for
moves disregards what is selected while the m key moves the current
selected group. So if one has the component selected but the move is
started with the middle mouse button over an attribute the attribute is
moved not the component. The middle mouse button move appears to only
move whats under the mouse pointer not what is selected.
Not sure if this clears up anything, but the current move scheme works
for me.
