I think you can see it in thindraw as a circle at the segment overlap.

That's done automatically as you draw.  And even with the 'split' tool it's
hard or impossible to split a straight segment.  If you've ended up with
some, you can mouse over the connection until you get the 'endpoint cursor'
and hit delete.
