gEDA-user: Re: Design changs required to mill PCBs?

Hello all,

I know when I was using an LPKF machine at school I had to watch the clearance between vias.  The LPKF software we had made two passes around the vias for extra clearances I assume this was to make it easier to solder.  We made 2 layer boards for our class project.  For connecting layers we just used component legs that we were able to solder from both sides or extra resistor legs just for the wire. (pre tined wire for soldering convenience)

I did run some gerber files that I had made with PCB without to much of a problem.  The only real problem that I had was with polygons, the LPKF software did not like them.  It might be fixed now, it has been a while since I tried it.

Also for anyone who is interested I started a project for converting gerber files to gcode for running on a CNC mill.  It is not completely working yet.  Any suggestions for sorting vector now would be helpful with my current bug.  http://sourceforge.net/projects/gerbertogcode

Matthew
