Hi,
gftp supports hiding some columns, although there is no option to do it inside the GUI. Edit your ~/.gftp/gftprc file and look for the local_*_width and remote_*_width options. Set the value to -1 to disable that column. Search for local_file_width and that should get you to the start of those options.
