Colour

One of the things I notice about linux in console mode is that it is pretty
drab colour wise. I know you can (and I have) change the
background/foreground colours. And change file/directory listings according
to type, but what about ANSI-type art? 

For an idea of what I mean, look at Norton Utilities for Dos (I'll post a
screenshot if there are people who don't know what I'm describing, if
asked), or PC Tools, or something.
