 No, sorry.  For this one, I really prefer the redundancy here to protect
 us against future mistakes. I'd rather annotate the extra memset as
 redundant than mark the inner ones as required.  Did that as
 fda7f00321c88e832c852d7bc9da2daa8a018d97.
