Comment (by arma):

 Sounds to me like your tool ("nettop") is trying to resolve ip addresses
 it sees to hostnames. The clear first suggestion is "don't run it then".
 (If you still want to run it, I bet there is some option somewhere to make
 it not automatically try to do dns reverse resolves.)
