 email is slow; you have to wait between 0 and 60 seconds for the poller to
 catch you. There's a [ticket:9177 needs_review patch] for the poller that
 should make it instant.

 Just now looking at the logs, it seems email is hardly used anymore; I
 guess appspot works for essentially everyone.
