 I was suggesting an expiration timestamp, like...

 # Subject Trotsky Sybil
 # Expire 2016-01-01
 }}}

 Then this is the only field that would need to be consulted to give a
 notification saying "The entry for 'Trotsky Sybil' has expired'. Absolute
 times are a tad nicer to deal with.
