24 FPS is unnacceptable for many games. I definitely notice if my monitor is set to less than 60 (I get nausea), and the acceptable level varries from person to person. FPS rates also tend to varry, and so you may need an average considerably higher than your minimum accepted level. GUI sampling rates are also often tied to FPS, and want to be higher or they don't perform well.


I would want at least 30 FPS even for 2D turn based games.
