[school-discuss] Linuxastronomy.org

Some of you may remember "pixo," Eugene Clement, who used to work for Mandrakesoft. I hadn't heard from him in quite a while. H just sent me a message telling me about his new personal project, <http://linuxastronomy.org>. He says:

"The goal is to built a remote controlled telescope accessible from the internet.

"It run on linux of course. Meanwhile, users are free to use what ever they like, I do not like to force people to switch from Ms, Apple, etc. products to linux, I let them free to first observe what we are doing, later, they will probably end up with a machine running linux at home, or at work.

"I invite you to take a look at it. the "volunteers page", has a lot of pictures, to give you an idea of what we do. The teenagers are also proud to have a homepage on it. I let the ones that help on the project, to have a web page. Not all of
them, did one yet.

"I realize the site has a lot of broken english. I struggle for help on the pages. I have some very good helpers, that are doing a fine job in their spare time, but it is far to be done."

I think this is a very interesting project, and one well worth supporting. Please take a look at it and give Eugene and his crew whatever encouragement you can.
