I recently ran into an article from a couple
of years ago that examined FLOSS in the
context of libertarian politics:

I noticed that, when the author was replying
to the "criticism that free software is
unsustainable because contributors have
insufficient incentive to participate," he
failed to mention the financial success of
firms like Red Hat &c. And the last I heard,
Linus Torvalds himself was not exactly
starving either. . . .
