[school-discuss] request for quotations from literary works in the gutenberg collection



hello,

the books containing the requested quotations are available for free download
from http://www.promo.net/pg/.

using downloaded .txt files from this site, excluding other available formats
and using ONLY .txt files.  please select a quotation from a favored book in
this list of books that illustrates one or more of the following properties :

the individual in society
conflict
self expression
negotiation
recovery
decline
tragedy
hope
fulfillment
history
morals
debate

these will be corrolated to speech testing.  This speech testing asks students
to repeat certain words, the results are recorded.  a database holds the
records by name and date.  surveys are e-mailed and returned, as in standard
surveys.

the quotations can be used for practice drills with subjects.

we will package and distribute an apache/php/mysql CD using the gutenberg
project and the open source school [http://www.opensourceschools.org/] for
this project.

here's the list of books, from which you may select your quotations,  just cut
and paste them, and send them to me at meschman@etc-edu.com :
(movie of book available for rental unless otherwise noted).

This CD is intended to act as a fund raising package and a classroom aide--
each institution should produce at least one local program and make all other
member institutions program packages available for a fee.  20% of the fee is
due the gutenberg project.
