I'm not clear on why anybody thinks we need to boot into any kind of
DOS, instead of doing it all from Linux?  Linux can read/write a VFAT
and MSDOS partition.  It's clear that some type of programming is going
to be needed to make the installation as seemless as possible, so why
not program for native Linux?
