I was falling asleep so I
left the NOLUG meeting early, but the members are very helpful with advice and
technical assistance. For example, one of them sold me a brand new full tower
case still in the box for $25 so I can put together a nice classroom server to
replace the old 486-66. (I picked up a dual pentium-pro motherboard on ebay, and
am putting together pieces and parts.) Others have offered to give me SIMMs and
even a complete 486 system to use as a client in the
classroom.

I know
Harry McGregor was talking about checking it out, but I don't
know if he
got the chance. I never did, but I did talk to an IBM
rep about the
pressing need for a Linux-based DTP program. Maybe
something will
come of that eventually.
