My opinion: If you are learning how to convert units then 1) you should do it
manually so you know what you're doing,
I don't agree with Charlie, because the idea of computers is to help the
humans. IMHO if you are going to learn how to convert units, a unit
conversion tool will be very helpful.

Here I also don't agree with Charlie. I must admit, that I was very
disappointed to read that.

I'm the author of the NumericalChameleon and I get a lot of positive
feedback about this tool:

- hundreds of emails from school kids and parents how great the NC is,

so you can assume that the NC will be used all over the world (even
if it's not on the ISO ;-)

The NC will help you to understand physical units, like length, volume,

time, electricity, magnetism, etc. (even if you are not at school
anymore). Currently 1600 units in 75 categories are supported. Also
roman numerals, bits&bytes and radixes can be converted.

It's not only a physics application; if you would like to learn a
foreign language, the NC will help you to learn reading and writing
numbers literally. The NC currently supports 15 languages (up to value
1e96). Examples:

The NC is absolutely free OpenSource (GPL) and due to Java it runs under
each Unix derivate (Debian, Mandrake, Suse, RedHat, MacOS X, even
Solaris are tested). For those how don't like UNIX, it runs also under
Windows.

Well, it's entirely up to you guys, if you found that a tool like the NC
is not worth to be on the Seul ISO.
