Description: The newSLATE Java applet automatically generates online quizzes from a student''s or teacher''s study materials. By signing up for a free newSLATE account, a user can create their own study materials (e.g. vocabulary lists), store them at the newSLATE site, and take quizzes on them from any Java-enabled web browser. The software currently includes built-in multilingual support for Latin-script languages and Hebrew. Additionally, teachers can pay a small yearly fee to make study materials they create in newSLATE available to their students. There are also many prepared study materials freely available for anyone to use.

Description: The Hspell project is a free Hebrew linguistic project. Its first aim is to create a free Hebrew spell-checker, and a fully functional and already useful release 0.2 is now available (see below).
However the databases and algorithms developed by the Hspell program could also be used as a morphology engine (for example, for search engines), and in the future (with much more work) for advanced things like Hebrew speech synthesis (for the blind who use a free operating system, but also useful for the general population).
