Try fiddling with the display settings on these. Synchronous X updates, 
backing store off/on and the like.

I'm pretty disappointed by WINE as well. It seems to work a lot better if you 
have a lot of Windows DLLs about for it to find, but IMHO that kind of 
defeats the purpose. Also, while I welcome their recent change to the GPL (it 
has a much better survivability paradigm than BSDish), alienating WineX and 
CodeWeavers by doing it unilaterally wasn't exactly a great political 
decision, and possibly speaks to some subtle empire-building.
