[seul-edu] Setting up a Wiki: Collaboration on the Net

Glad you've seen the light. :-) But you're wrong about the AOL sever part.
Wikit runs on just about anything.

"WiKit" is just one WikiWiki implementation, which is described at
http://mini.net/cgi-bin/wikit/1.html The really neat feature of Wikit is
that it is implemented as a "scripted document". All the web pages and code
are in a single, platform independent file, which you execute as a CGI
script. You just install this one file, plus a platform specific TclKit
runtime (also a single file), and you have a Wiki that runs with any
CGI-enabled web server.

Just to prove this simplicity to myself, I just set up a wiki at
http://www.techentin.net/cgi_bin/wikit.cgi by downloading an new, empty
wikit.tkd and Linux TclKit runtime from http://www.equi4.com/tclkit/ Then I
had to create one line helper script and make everything accessible as
described at
http://mini.net/cgi-bin/wikit/48.html

There are other Wiki implementations as well. See
http://c2.com/cgi/wiki?WikiWikiClones for a long list. Depends, I suppose,
on your favorite languages and what you're willing to install and live with.

Good luck,
Bob
