IMPORTANT: Plans for the weekend and beyond

Tonight and parts of tomorrow I hope to complete the construction of my
latest machine, alpha, and the placement of it and psi such that alpha
boots diskless for most purposes. It has a 120MB drive, but as you can
imagine, it's less than useful for development work. It'll be used for
testing and initial installs, before moving a new root to psi's 5GB drive.

alpha will be installed with numerous distributions, starting with RedHat
4.2, as it is the only one I can sanely install right now. Debian I'll
attempt again over the weekend (1.3.1r2) if I have time. RedHat 5.0 has to
wait till I can burn a valid CD on Monday. Later on testing will be done
for all sorts of things, as I have time. It may even be available for
people to work on if no other systems are available, though it's behind a
33.6K modem currently. Those of S&M bent might like that. ;-)

The rest of the weekend I will be working on the website, starting with the
initial completion of sdoc, getting it on our site and in use. The next
task will be to gather all the information I can to put together the entire
site as it stands now.

In the longer term, we're losing Roger (arma) as a sysarch. He just has
too much stuff to do for school. For the mid-term, that means I just have
to work harder *and* smarter. This also means that everyone here will have
some more responsibilities, and most important, *deliverables*. That means
that either you or someone you delegate to will be held accountable for a
given item. To facilitate that, a TODO list will be built on the website.

The work over this weekend will take several people, mostly gathering
together everything we have so far as far as documentation, and writing
some documents.

I need commitments from a few people for the weekend for these things.
Marty is an obvious candidate, if he is available. Any others with time
to mark up documents would be welcome. If you know HTML, you can help.

I'm hoping to kickstart this project this weekend. Let's make it happen!

TIA,
   Omega
