voice recognition and SEUL purpose

This is off-topic, but I remember someone wanting voice recog. for
Linux. Here's another link that might be of interest:

As to the purpose of SEUL, I gather it's changed a good deal since
the days when the basic plan was writing another distro. If we don't
have an agreed-upon purpose for the project I suspect we'll have trouble
ever coming up with a finished product, as no one will agree on what
'finished' means.

_My_ purpose (not necessarily SEUL's purpose) for helping on this
project is to help make Linux easier to use for the 'average' home
user. To me that means addressing installation of OS and software,
promoting availability of a variety of types of software (whether
commercial or not), and assisting in answering questions and getting the
word out. The SEUL projects that seem to me to fit with my purpose are
the survey (for gathering info about the Linux community to help in
convincing commercial companies to port to Linux) and the various things
going on in the apps area (even though most of them are going slowly
right now). Project Independence fits also in that it addresses both
the availability and ease of installation of software. LU-News also
does in that it should make it easier to let the community know about
interesting developments.

I don't know how or if this helps SEUL in defining/refining its
purpose; I hope it does.
