i have to disagree - the point of a scientific linux distro would do away
with this problem - the distro ITSELF would have its own xfree86 etc etc
so everything worked. thats the point - is it not? 

also - there's plenty of people out there with no internet connection and
who don't plan on having one - so everything on one CD is good - plus if
it cheap then we can convert people over who might just "try" the distro -
and if they need more specialisation as N. Irmer does - they can then go
on to do so. MOST PEOPLE DON'T EVEN KNOW THAT GOOD SCI APPS FOR LINUX EVEN
EXIST!!!!!!!!!
