Comment (by mcs):

 Does mbsdiff appear to be in a CPU intensive loop?  Or maybe is it using
 an excessive amount of virtual memory?

 It sounds like the non-ASan mbsdiff is working and can produce a diff from
 two ASan-built copies of libxul? That implies that the problem is not just
 something like "mbsdiff cannot handle really large binaries" but some flaw
 in mbsdiff that is caused by it being compiled with ASan.
