The Tor Repository works fine on a Raspberry Pi 2, so I'm guessing

yep how right you are, I tested it but it pulled in libsystemd for some reason and the whole point of moving to devuan was to get away from that unneeded dependency.

So I guess I have to compile it myself then!?

I am running an rpi3 with devuan.

How to I get a more recent tor package on there?

Could I use https://deb.torproject.org or do I have to
setup a tool chain for armhf and build it from source?
