I couldn't guess, I'm biased. :) I used to have problems with high-pitched
noises, but enough years playing guitar have rendered those problems more or
less obsolete. Also enough repeated sci-fi flicks... ;) Maybe you just
need to play guitar for awhile. :) New requirement for Crimson Fields:

I'm leaning towards the synths themselves being part of the problem. In
armsrace the problem is definitely the trumpet. Hard to believe that's
supposed to be a trumpet, but I'm not happy with what it sounds like anyway
and will be looking for a better instrument.

I'll try transposing the synths down an octave and see what that does. I
don't remember why I wanted them in the range they're in, so I'll probably
find that out again. ;)

I'd really like to know this too. In most places I've agreed with you after I
got some sleep or something, but I strongly disagree with what's in the
Default Symphony, so I really want to know if other people are having
problems with high-pitched. I have noticed, though, that I don't have a lot
of bassy noises in general in any of these songs, and maybe the real problem
is a lack of lower instruments rather than too many/too loud higher
instruments.

Anybody else have comments about high-pitched noise in these songs? Also, I'm
still wondering about the phrases in at least theme.mid, since they still
sound disjointed and I'm wondering if I should pick one or two phrases and go
from there or if I should keep them all and just make them sound better
together.

Chihuahuas drive me crazy. I can't stand anything that shivers when it's
warm.
