The only problem with this is than an arbitrary number of canvases are
allowed. Maybe they should each have their own preferences, accesible via
the contextual menu of the canvas.

Ditto, I don't think these will work very well in a global dialog

That's great, I'm sure you will be able to help it progress a lot by
contributing to free software.

You aren't the only one who's native language is not English ;-). In fact,
most people working on Dr Genius are French. I personally find the
cultural diversity of Open source projects to be very amazing.
