By the way,
one could see bottom-up design as a growth process. Since
the design has to stay on that 2 dimensional flat plain
on the chip it is not to bad to use a growth process for
development.
Remember, today's chip technology is a flat technology.
Any design you do that actually builds a 3 dimensional
wiring can hardly be implemented. Therefore designs that
fit on a piece of paper without overlapping wires will
always be fine for implementation.
The world is flat. Do pipelined designs. :-))
