Oh - come on! Do you really want to copy the PC strategy?
Keep it more simple instead. Update of the boot part all
the time for new devices is a sh%&!

I loved that MAC approach where you plugged in a card and
it worked with the operating system - no installation of
drivers a.s.o.

The operating system and the boot loader should only be
managing. The devices itself should bring the devices
functionality in. With device I mean software as well
as hardware approaches/add-ons.
