Summary: graphical versus source

Initial Comment:
It used to be that you could place a circuit symbol in a schematic as a comment by attaching graphical=1 to it. This was handy for hierarchical design, as you could include the symbol in the source schematic, allowing the reader to more easily see the relationship between the subcircuit and its higher level representation.

Now, however, this leads to an infinite recursion. When gnetlist encounters a source attribute in such a symbol it proceeds to read in the source file, which causes it to encounter the symbol again, ...

Based on old netlists in my files, this bug appears to have been introduced sometime after gnetlist 20050820 and before 20070216. It also afflicts 1.0.1-20070626.
