gEDA-bug: [Bug 762894] Re: Add an option to suppress creation of backup files

Hi Richard! Thank you for the patch - I apologise for not looking at it
sooner.

This seems like a reasonable change. However, it seems more user-
friendly to have a "make-backup-files" option that defaults to enabled,
than to have a double negative as the default setting. The same goes for
the variable you've added to the TOPLEVEL structure.

Could you please invert the sense of the option, and submit a revised
patch? Thanks!

Title:
Add an option to suppress creation of backup files

Status in GPL Electronic Design Automation tools:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
When using a version control system the backup (~) files created by
libgeda become annoying. They can be ignored by most VCSs however they
still sit there and don't serve any purpose as any mistake can be
  recovered from a previous version.

This patch adds a configuration option "no-backup-files" which
suppresses the creation of backup files. It is disabled by default so
there is no change to the previous behaviour unless this option is
  activated.
