Summary: make Vs GNU make

Initial Comment:
Recently installed the gEDA suite on a Solaris Express Developer Edition X86 system.

Initial make install failed with errors. Noticed mention of GNU make somewhere in the Makefiles, I believe. On the Solaris system, GNU make is gmake.

gmake install
ran without errors. Suggest README or other documents instruct to use GNU make. If it's there, I apologize, I didn't see it.

I saw mention of groff in the output from the gmake install. I didn't see it as one of the prerequisites.

It appears running gschem requires things to be located in /usr/local/share/geda. I had it located elsewhere and it didn't operate properly.

Do not have help working properly yet. Maybe a path issue or maybe I need groff?

Thanks for the suite.

Ron Johnson
