Hi Steven,

I've looked at the linked GNOME bug report, and looked at the way we're
using GtkRecentManager. What we're doing seems to match the spec for the
API, and it's not obvious from the bug report what we should change to
fix it.  It looks to me like it's a problem with the way the GTK+ icon
theme being used on your OS X system has been set up. :-/  But I'm not
totally sure about that.

Bug description:
  When launching gschem on a Mac OS X system I get an abort trap from
  GTK recent file manager.

  Here is the error output

  Abort trap

  It seems that there is no function to provide a default icon for the
  manger.
