Recent gEDA versions include support for rendering UTF-8 encoded strings.
Please file a bug if you find a problem in this area.

Bug description:
I want to make compartible with the soviet GOST cyrillic (and others)
fonts, but as so as I can see, gEDA is UTF compartible, it know only
fonts sizes in 8859-1 charset. Is it possible overcome this? Where to
dig?
