Initial Comment:
If you add a 7474-1.sym to a schematic, add a slot=
attribute manually, and then change the slot= directly,
you get the following message in the gschem.log file:

numslots attribute missing
Slotting not allowed for this component

and the pin numbers do not update.

Changing slots via Edit/Slots... or the multiple
attribute editor works fine however.
