Initial Comment:
Ages ago, I submitted a patch to gschem for scroll wheel support. It could only scroll, but the two different wheels scrolled in different directions (vertical/horizontal).
Nowadays, one can configure whether to zoom or scroll (thanks for making it configurable, BTW), but the support for the second wheel (for horizontal scrolling) is gone (in scrolling mode, i.e. with '(scroll-wheel "gtk")'). It just behaves like the first one, i.e. it scrolls vertically.
