Adding visual aids to short short segments is a good, easy to program idea.

What would be even better depends on more attribs being used so you
can tell if a net is assigned to a net yet by pcb.  If pcb put an attrib of
netname on each drawing object as it was related to a netlist net, you
would then be able  to highlight just the short short objects that are not part of a net yet,
which is still a "short and sweet" feasible AI rule.

Then the yet2be programmed,
highlight-unobvious-unconnected-nets command would be handy.
