gEDA-user: Icarus Verilog Release 0.5

Hold the phone! Stop the presses! It's here!

Last week was appropriately quiet, so I've made the release.
Icarus Verilog 0.5 is available for download in source form, as
RPMS (src, alpha and i386) a Solaris/sparc package and a Windows
self-extracting installer. The NetBSD and Debian packages have
also already been built by the respective port managers.

This version of Icarus Verilog features a new simulation engine
(called vvp) that replaces the old and slow vvm simulation library,
as well as a great many bug fixes in the core compiler. Too many
to list here, in fact.

Verilog 0.5 also is the official debut of the loadable code
generator API, ivl_target.h. This provides C programmers the API
needed to write code generators and netlisters for new or custom
formats. This new API allows for easy integration of third-party
simulation engines and netlist formats.

The implementation of the VPI PLI is also changed, making the core
components of Icarus Verilog much more portable. This is reflected
in more robust packages for Solaris and Windows.

And of course now that there is a new *stable* release, I'm probably
going to be flooded with a fresh batch of bug reports:-)
