OK, the problem seems to be that you have -O0 in at least one of your
Make2.gcc files now -- seems it was -O2 for all files in 
gnucap-2008-03-24 for which the Gentoo ebuild was designed:

So again the question:
Can/shall we change this to -O2 and can we remove the -g?

(I will build for AMD64 X2)
