git clone ssh://git@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx/gpledahtdocs.git
Initialized empty Git repository
in /home/pcjc2/gafsrc/gpledahtdocs/.git/
Enter passphrase for key '/home/pcjc2/.ssh/keys/id_rsa.gpleda.org':
ERROR:gitosis.serve.main:Repository read access denied

web repository, but I'm not sure if I have _write_ access).

I don't even have _read_ access to the gpleda.org htdocs.
