Re: gEDA-user: pads net list problem

The netlist output is fairly simple and is probably fields separated by spaces, tabs, or commas.
What format is he using to read in the file?  Is he writing it our as the same format? (.CSV?)
I've run into something like this and found that Excel was filtering out extra spaces or putting quote marks around every field that it read in that looked like text.
Look at the file in a real text editor if you can, and the filtering or formatting that Excel is doing will probably be obvious.

I have designed a circuit and created a pads netlist to send to the person
who is doing my layout. He said that PADS will not accept the netlist file
directly. He can get around the problem by first opening the file with
Excel and then re-saving it. Then PADS will read it just fine. I will try
to get more details about this, but for now, I was wondering if anybody
else has run into this problem.
