Built in USB interface that has sufficient smarts to operate
autonomously in order to bootstrap download the program for the
micro. This saves the need for significant external memory, and
completely eliminates the need for a prom programmer.

The Cypress part has UARTS, but I don't see the value given the
USB port. (Which by the way can also be used as a power source.)
