I found out that PCB's element format works fine without a pad
included even though the standard user interface won't let you create one
by pointing and clicking. If you have any logo or special mark you want to
put on a board, you can make it, include a pad, save as an element with the
origin on the artwork, not the pad, then text edit the element to delete the
line defining the pad. You will want to make separate dirs under
${INSTALLDIR}/share/pcb/newlib to put such elements in. If you just
save them to a standard subdir of ...pcb/newlib nothing bad will happen unless they
have same name as a standard library element. Then they will be overwritten by
new installs of newer versions of pcb.
Hope I did not bother anyone with those attachments earlier. I'll put up a web site
for such files... but not today...
