Since when do zealots (Linux, Religeous, Political and etc..) make sense?

I think the arguement could be sucessfully made that gEDA is building the 
framework for just such a business model. Why not?   

Also, Companies like Altera and Xylinx are making thier tools available for 
free these days - It's a step in the right direction. FWIW, we use alot of 
Altera and the free tools do work as advertised (Well, like all apps, there
are a few bugs). But, these apps are proprietary and are not in the same
vein gEDA. Even so, they are free to use.
