If you're not running Mac OS X, you can safely stop reading now.
If you're using Mac OS X, but haven't discovered the wonders of Fink
(yeah, I'm talkin' to you!), here's one more reason to look at Fink.
Icarus Verilog has just been accepted into Fink's "unstable" category.
In theory, this means that future versions will be available from Fink
much sooner after Steve releases them.
You still need the Developer tools for this, though. Setup instructions
are here:
http://fink.sourceforge.net/doc/users-guide/install.php
Instructions on using the "unstable" tree are here:
http://fink.sourceforge.net/faq/usage-fink.php#unstable
For iverilog to be available to a wider audience, though, it needs to
move to 'stable', where it should eventually make its way into the next
Fink binary distribution. To facilitate this process, I need to collect
positive feedback from several users. Some of you have already tried my
earlier snapshots. If that's the case, it would be much appreciated if
you could just verify that I didn't bungle anything up with the version
that's in unstable now.
Finally, a big thanks to Steve Williams-- he quickly approved all of
the OS X iverilog patches that I threw at him, which means that the
Fink powers-that-be didn't have to mess around with any patch files.
regards,
