Yes, UNIX as well as Linux. Any UNIX, any *NIX like system and Linux.
XFT has no configuration mechanism itself, but relies on the fontconfig
library to configure and customize fonts. The XFT library is not specific to
XFree86 or indeed, any particular font output mechanism.

Another library and yet another library, How long will it take, until we reach the stage, ther KDE is today, ther kdeinit loady tons of shared libraries prior to liading the applications. When the user starts an app, kdeinit loads this app, the libs are already loaded and the referenced resolved, and voila, the applications starts with minimal delay.


Things cannot go worse anymore! Its almost impossible to debug this stuff anymore. This is the way, Win3.x worked, everything was loaded into a single address space.

UNIX is different and this difference is the base of UNIXs stability and I want to trust in my UNIX system, even tomorrow.
