You want "thin draw polygons" then.  You'll need a CVS version, and
the lesstif GUI, until Dan adds it to the Gtk menus.

Well, I use it to edit the polygons, and the relevent lines clear
polys anyway.  The problem I was trying to solve is picking the
corners of the polygons without accidentally picking the traces that
are clearing the polygons.
