The compile failure of Guile 1.4 isn't caused by this?

Else there should be a 1.4.1 version out there. I have stopped subscribing
to guile mailing list, so I don't actually know what's going on there.

Seems like a Guile caused bug at a quick glance. Maybe something changed
from 1.4 to 1.6. 1.6 isn't tested and therefore not supported. It would be
interesting to test though.
