Ok, there is a directory under root called media, but when there is no CD mounted the directory is empty. If I put a CD in the drive it gets automounted and I can look at the contents under /media/CDROM
After you change directory to your home directory you should be able to start at step four changing (using uppercase CDROM)
4. Run the installer (with the log file flag set):
/media/CDROM/installer --log
(* jcl *)
