Re: gEDA-user: Professional PCB help using geda?
Hi all,
<rambling>
Imagine thousands of hits __every__ day on the geda-user mailing list,
emails about user problems or automagiccally generated bug reports by the
underlying windoze OS ?
All those bug reports to be looked into and processed into a presentation
for the senior management as to report where to put the effort of developers
into ?
Taking shifts in the front-office helpdesk, assisting clueless users ?
Not getting your back-office development work done ?
Imagine trying to get additional budget, for October 1st this year, to hire
another dozen developers to get bugs squashed and newly filed feature
requests implemented, for the upcoming gEDA X-mas special release.
Imagine senior management demanding a paper, this very week, on where the
gEDA market strategy should be heading in say a year, or 3 years, from now ?
Imagine features wanted by users, actually being filed by users and actually
being solved by developers ?
Imagine hardware vendors trying to plug their own footprints and symbols of
their devices in a licensed gEDA distro/promo CD/DVD ?
Imagine the entire gEDA suite incorporated in Microsoft Vista Service
Release 2.
<beep> <beep> <beep> <smacks the alarm clock>
<pant> <pant>
<takes a deep breath>
Oh, it's 06.00 hours.
Time to get up and go to work.
What a nightmare I had last night.
</rambling>
Just my EUR 0.02
Kind regards,
Bert Timmerman.
BTW: where would the gEDA suite be in say 3 years from now ?
