gEDA-user: Laser printer report: Brother HL-4070CDW

For those who are interested in toner transfer with their own laser
printer:

A while ago we bought a Brother HL-4070CDW color laser.  We also have an
older B&W HL-1440.

The HL-1440's fuser was never very potent.  Its blacks even on plain paper
were not as bold as you'd like.  And on cardstock, under magnification,
you could clearly see lots of pinholes.

One of the first things I tried with the 4070 when we got it was printing
a PCB layout on cardstock, and it looked very promising.  But I finally had
a chance to put it to the test over the weekend.  I did a very small board
(overall about thumb size) with 10mil tracks.  I used Epson photo paper
(as always) taped to the middle of a carrier sheet.  The results were
excellent and the board etched perfectly.

If you get the HL-4070CDW's little brother (I think it's the 4040CN) that
leaves off duplex and wireless connectivity, you can get one of these for
around $250, which is a great deal.  The general printing quality is also
very good.  Some people complain that it puts more of a curl on the output
that other printers, but I don't find it objectionable.

I'll try to put up a page about this weekend's project soon.  I replaced
the brains of a Innovage JUMBO UNIVERSAL REMOTE, which are conveniently
located on a daughter card shaped sort of like a super-wide SO-24
